Step 2: The Shake and Rattle Test. Perhaps the most effective way to test the start relay is by performing a physical test. To find the start relay, locate it by looking in the same compartment where the compressor is located (this is usually plugged somewhere in the back of the main compartment of the fridge).Test between all terminals. If an open winding is found after the compressor is out of thermal overload, then it needs replacement. Checking for Internal Short- Repeat the steps of checking for an open winding. In a 3 phase compressor, each Ohm reading from terminal to terminal should essentially be the same.Jun 7, 2023 · Connect your AC compressor clutch to a 12-volt battery to see if it engages. The most common standardized curve is the ‘DIN’ curve. The curve describes the resistance vs temperature characteristics of a Platinum, 100 ohm sensor, the standardized tolerances, and the measurable temperature range. The DIN standard specifies a base resistance of 100 ohms at 0°C, and a temperature coefficient of .00385 Ohm/Ohm/°C.Step 5. Touch the leads on your digital multimeter to both sides of the thermal overload switch. Watch the needle on the digital multimeter display to determine if your thermal overload switch needs to be replaced. A functional thermal overload switch will cause the needle to move to "0". If your thermal overload switch is faulty, the needle on ...In this video we will show you how to replace the compressor in an LG refrigerator. Me-gohm values equal to or greater than 1000 ohms per volt are probably acceptable. For example, a 460 volt compressor might show a megohm reading of 460,000 ohms or 0.46 megohm. Compressors with rated voltages of 208 to 230 volts would then be operable at megohm values of 0.208 to 0.230 megohms; forSome Meggers have a range selection of Voltage, like 460 Volt and 220 Volt and 1000 Volt. Set the multimeter to DC voltage and disconnect the connector from the AC compressor clutch. Place your positive multimeter lead on one of the connector terminals and connect the negative lead to the negative post of your battery.Knowing exactly what the ohm readings should be will save you steps, if the comp does not ohm to the specs, but it is not necessary to diagnose the compressor. That said if it ohms out OK, all wire connections are good, voltage is not dropping below 197 under load, the capacitor is good, then try a start assist. This time the compressor ohms out correctly. Now the tech needs to determine why the compressor overheated. An overload might open due to: A lack of maintenance. If the outdoor coil gets dirty it can raise the head pressure and make the unit run hot. A defective run or start capacitor. These two items need to be checked.LG Compressor TCA38151706 / TCA38091801 (FLS075LANA) Brand: PRORETAILER. 5.0 1 rating.
