This time of year is kinda dead. This end of the patch cycle is quiet as well. It was supposed to launch back in August with the launch of a patch. Things will pick up eventually, but probably not until 6.3. The DC as a whole lacks anyone trying to do content, even dailies are a hassle to queue for during peak times.

The new server launched at pretty much the same time that pre-patch came out. WOW (despite what some people think) has a greater population than FF14. it consistently sells 3-million launch day expansions (and has done with everything except Mists). The only thing that happened was the seal on him was broken. This shattering only broke his imprisonment. He was powerful, but not nearly as powerful as how the unsundered know him to be.

Official forums for games always turn into a cesspit. Personally, I like the heavy restrictions. Yoshi has seemingly put a great amount of emphasis on limited animosity within the official confines of this game, and I'm not sure how else they could achieve it (given that they will probably never allow down-voting).
