Ffxiv instant portrait not working.
Six months later I'm having this issue still. Even when I set it RIGHT BEFORE a dungeon and don't change ANYTHING, even though it doesn't have an edit option or anything to signify that it wouldn't work, it doesn't actually work in dungeon. I tried forcing it to break and resetting it, nothing works.

You have to force update by removing a gear (not weapon) then update it again. Remove gear (except weapon) press double arrow thingy or update gear. Wear ring again. Update gear. enjoy portrait. 8. If you change hobs in between matches (for a roulette or so), id goes back to the default image until you reset it again as default instant Portrait. 🤣 To be fair tho: They said it's more or less still a Beta Version.

It seems that any change of equipment breaks the link that is applied to the gearset. What I've also found out is that if you link a portrait to a gearset through the portrait menu, the link will always break by just switching gearsets. Linking the portrait directly from the character gearset menu at least prevents it from breaking by just ... You need to save the portrait again every single time you change something on the job you are currently playing. Changing equipment, changing glamour, equipping materia, displaying your weapon or headpiece - all of this will make the portrait unavailable if you dont save it afterwards.KeepUI_FFXIV (Stops the FFXIV UI from being affected by other shaders.) ... This in my experience sets the portrait properly. One of the solutions was literally make a gearset for every plate and link all of those to the portraits not taking into consideration that you're limited to 45 gearsets (which is very easy to hit if you have crafters/gatherers and ulitmate/bozja/eureka bis sets) not to mention some people have more than 20 glam plates that they routinely rotate in and out.
