I had that issue with a used ecobee that I purchased. Thankfully the selling provided me the code without to much hassle. I couldn’t find a way to reset without it. I will add that I have contacted ecobee support for other issues and they have always been extremely helpful and quickly resolved any problems so don’t hesitate to contact them.
