Ruger alaskan 454 discontinued.
These revolvers have all-stainless steel construction and are currently available in either 44 Magnum or 454 Casull. In past years Ruger made the Alaskan in 480 Ruger, but it has been discontinued, again, and probably won’t reemerge. Anyone with big bore revolver experience can probably appreciate why the 480 wasn’t a great seller.
Congrats on the 454 Alaskan. I have both the 44 and 454 Alaskan and enjoy each touch of the trigger on either. I also like the non fluted cylinder. As far as end shake, I've never noticed enough to check with a gauge. I also put the old style Lett grips on mine. I prefer the full size Letts but do shoot the 44 with the compact grips. Aug 6, 2015 · The BFR is more pleasant to shoot but the shorter/lighter Toklat is the defence gun that gets put in the chest harness. If I were to offer any advice, it is to work up to full power loads. Even shoot a lot of heavy 45 Colt loads. Some times the bark is worse than the bite. What I mean by that is that the muzzle blast is actually worse than the ... However the Alaskan isn’t a S&W L frame 5 shot 44 magnum either. There are no comparisons for either, they both have their purpose. I personally like the lines of a Smith better than I do a Ruger double action. Now a single action Ruger is the best bang for the buck all day long every day. Guns are like women, every man has his preferences.
