Jubilost : seems like the best story companion atm. His dex could be a bit higher but overall good stats and great class. Pick infusion on first level up to buff your team and bomb lob the rest of the time. If MC is not grenadier, I would pick him every time.

Arcane casters get Grease and Stinking Cloud which are fun. Druids make nature spring to life to root enemies in place, and eventually they strangle your foes, poison them, impale them with giant spike stones, etc. You also get some pretty nice AOE damage spells. Bard is a 2/3 caster, with great out of combat utility. It's a very strong class, and it will get you through RP and combat without too much trouble.
