That’s basically what it was last year. It isn’t a crazy scramble to schedule though. I dont know if you figured it out or not but there is a way to show the programs that you have submitted the paper the journal. I just did it. If you pick one of the peer review/ journal " (OTHER THAN PUBLISHED) "option under the publication section. Then go down to publication status. theres multiple options with one being " submitted".

Research, grades, scores, faculty relationships >>>>>>>>>>>> derm extracurriculars > non-derm extracurriculars for applications. Outside of those top 4 things, just do what makes you happy and keeps you sane in medical school.There are many resources and opinions on getting into derm, which you can find online and through your school/department. I would not suggest dual applying to a surgical subspecialty in addition to derm considering the level of networking required for the alternate specialty.
