If you want to save on souls, try Frozen weapon or Blessed Weapon. both require almost no stats to cast. They also don't scale with Fth/Int so you don't miss out by not having tons of levels in their stat. They'll add a respectable amount of damage. If you're going physical, you'd be far better off going minimum STR requirement and 80 DEX with sharp twinblades. They're probably going for that so they can use any weapon for PvE.
