The only thing you're guaranteed is 4 treasury notes (SBQ), besides that you have to do like 1k damage to the boss. The cores are included with the same rewards bundle as the flux. This rewards bundle requires you to meet a minimum damage threshold. If you don't meet the threshold, all you get are treasury notes and nothing else.

Drop rates for legendary cores from public events are ridiculous. A Colossal Problem, Encrypted, Project Paradise (all 3 creatures alive) and Free Range (all 3 brahmin alive) all award a guaranteed 8 legendary cores if the event is successful. Scorched Earth rewards a guaranteed 5 legendary cores if the event is successful.

It's hard to build up enough scrip to maintain legendary modding. Especially if you are looking for a very specific legendary mod. I find it funny that Secret Service armor takes 1 legendary module to roll a possible 3 star legendary but a Wood or Metal armor takes 4 modules and cores. My lowest toon is in the same boat. The scrip dumping events are really keeping the modules flowing. It should be possible to exchange cores for legendary scripts before thousands accumulate.
