Program Details for Geology Degrees. The Master of Science (Geology) program will require 36 credits of course and research credits (a maximum of 9 credits may be 400-level course work). Twelve of the 36 credits must be research credits. All Master of Science (Geology) candidates must also complete an appropriate thesis, based upon original research they have conducted.Requirement. The Cambridge Overseas Higher School Certificate (COHSC) would be considered for entry to undergraduate courses at York. The Malawi School Certificate of Education is not sufficient for entry. You will need to take an additional course before being able to apply for an undergraduate course at York.Geological Sciences B.S. students usually finish their studies in geology with a 6-week field camp (EES 323). They undertake several field, laboratory and computational exercises that allow integration of all of the skills and knowledge gained during previous studies. Many of our B.A. students opt to take this course as an elective as well.The study of rocks is known as geology. Scientists who study rocks are known as geologists. There are several subdivisions of geology, with different designations for researchers who study the individual disciplines.The courses offered by the Harold Hamm School of Geology and Geological Engineering divide conveniently into two groups: geology courses and geological engineering courses.
