For most normal builds that stops at before level 20 an Argonian with the mage stone works really well. Poison resistance, combat useful self heal, bestial stew for stamina regeneration. This let's them hit Dwemer ruins much earlier, ignore stamina, and critically use the necromancers amulet @ 13 while still having good stamina regeneration.Alright thanks for the tips. Spellsword or battlemage is always a fun topic. I see battlemages as heavy armored tanks blasting away with destruction and using melee on stragglers. I see spellswords as agile lightly armored warriors favoring spells and melee equally. Conjuration seems like a great compliment to a spellsword.

You have to remove heavy armor and keep moving in order to cope with slow moving speed. 2- sneak. Not gonna mention it here since there is no point being a stealthy spellsword. 3- the armor cap.
