Professor Michael Mahan's research concerns the molecular mechanisms of bacterial pathogenesis, and immune responses to infection and microbial sepsis. He received his B.S. degree in Biochemistry and M.S. degree in Genetics from the University of California, Davis; and a Ph.D. in Genetics from the University of Utah.Our lab is part of the Department of Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology. The lab is located on the second floor of the Life Sciences Building in the UCSB campus. UCSB is a top research institution, ranked 5th among the US public universities.
