I have a Reminton Rand 1911 that has a 5 digit number stamped on a plate that is placed over the factory ser #. Can anyone help me with this. I have searched the files but cant come up with anything. The plate is drilled out to allow the slidestop through. Also the rest of the gun looks correct as far as parts, finish and stampings.

A good used Essex frame will easily bring $200-300 on GB, $100-150 for the barrel if it's in nice shape, at least $200 for the slide, plus all the small parts.
