It's less RNG and overall less grinding, and while it costs more poetics and potentially gc seals, it's still easier to obtain vs say Zeta's materia step which can run you some gil if you aren't already sitting on a hoard of old materia. Red mage is still probably the best for soloing potd/hoh. Nascent flash is absolutely amazing and it works so well with warrior’s strong burst, especially in a fight like a11s where you need burst healing at specific spots. Clemency is a powerful heal but at the cost of a lot of dps.Expect Alexander's Ultimate - Tanks should Limit Break 3 at 3-5 seconds on the timer. Wave 01. The only reason I say that is because the lapis lazuli phase is entirely self-contained in relation to the overall progression of the fight. The Zodiac BLM weapon is still the best, but it has the absolute worst grind in the game. The book step of Zodiac is actually maddening. Running unsynce dungeons is boring, but fine. Doing the old leve quests is boring, but not the worst. Even having to teleport all over the place for the enemy kills is okay.

For A9S you have to complete A12 normal and complete the Alexander quest line.
