It it's drawing zero ohms there is either no power to the compressor terminals or the internal overload is open. If the ohms from C to R and from C to S are OK - then the internal overload is closed. Get the correct voltage to the compressor terminals, make sure the compressor run capacitor has the correct uf value, and add a big hard start kit. When you need to embark on some good old-fashioned air conditioner troubleshooting, we’ve got your back. We’re going to walk you through 12 common problems your AC system might have, how you can fix them, and when to call in a professional. 1. Your AC Won’t Turn On.

This time the compressor ohms out correctly. Now the tech needs to determine why the compressor overheated. An overload might open due to: A lack of maintenance. If the outdoor coil gets dirty it can raise the head pressure and make the unit run hot. A defective run or start capacitor. These two items need to be checked. Scroll compressors like several other types of compressors, will only compress in one rotational direction. Direction of rotation is not an issue with single-phase compressors since they will always start and run in the proper direction. Three-phase compressors will rotate in either direction depending upon phasing of the power to L1, L2 and L3.input impedance - 600 ohms, bridges-t control (floating). xlr and trs balanced line level outputs - 600 ohms impedance. xlr and trs balanced line level inputs - 600 ohms impedance. frequency response +/- 1 db, 15 hz to 20khz. gain 40 db ±1db. input level +16 db maximum. output level +10 db nominal, +16 db maximum. When in doubt, refer to the data plate or specs on the specific motor or compressor. μF. If the run capacitor was rated at 35 μF, this would be within range. If it was rated at 40 μF, it would be 15 percent out of range, which is outside of the allowable range for all run capacitors I know of.

Pulled compressor plug off and ohmed all 3 to ground, they all 3 had infinite resistance and to corrosion at all. Between the 3 terminals at the compressor I measured 1.4, 2.9, and 3.2(s-r). Left the compressor unplugged and turned on ac and the condenser fan motor came on and stayed running.

Some Meggers have a range selection of Voltage, like 460 Volt and 220 Volt and 1000 Volt. The less expensive Megger testors adject the range automatically. If the compressor is 220 Volt, it might be easier on the compressor to use the 220 Volt Range. Hi guys, just to give an update. I had a look at the data sheet of the compressor (NJ2212GK) and the resistance rating for the start winding is 7.25 ohms, the rated resistance value for the run winding is 1.95 ohms. So the readings I get are not 'so' off but there are a bit off. Could that be an issue. The first thing to do before testing the windings of the motor is to remove the links linking terminals W2U2V2 and the disconnect the motor from supply (L1, L2, L3).
