They do not lighten the trigger pull. As for the finish, Ruger uses a black oxide finish to cut the price, same as the sights. The finish is not rough, it's a working gun not a safe queen. The Ruger LC9s now discontinued had a nice blue finish and changeable metal sights that increased the cost, but they were prettier.
