For a master’s of science degree in Civil Engineering, with an emphasis in water engineering and management, students have the option of three plans. Plan I includes a written thesis, with reduced course work. Plans IIa and IIb focus on coursework, with an option of including up to 2 semesters of independent study for a report. Heya, coastal engineer here but I work closely with the flood/WQ types. Certainly a viable option to go for the master of water resources, they blend well with an environmental engineering undergrad, about 25% of the water quality guys had environmental background, the rest were civil.

Graduate programs in civil engineering are organized within the affinity groups. Students pursuing a master's degree or PhD can choose to affiliate with the Water Resources Engineering group for their educational and research activities. Graduate students will work closely with faculty advisors throughout their studies and as they prepare a thesis.
