Resetting the SMC by shutting down the MBP and holding Shift + Ctrl + Opt and the power button for ~10 seconds did the trick. The Touch Bar stopped flashing and has behaved as expected ever since. Has the Flashing/flickering Touch Bar MacBook Pro 2018 issue been resolved yet? I can see the exact same problem happening on another user's system that reported it a while back. Itlooks like other users have reported this as well. It is basically the las couple of rectangular LED's next to the fingerprint reader that flicker continuously.The thing is I try to avoid the hassles of having to backup my MBP and having to live a few days without a computer, as I still need to work in the meantime.
