I make a line out from my base perpendicular to the star path. Rover Bay -> Habitat -> Research -> Printer -> Smelter -> Trade -> Fuel -> Space Dock. And then from each of those buildings I go out along the star path to make 3 extra nodes. Research -> Battery -> Solar -> Wind. I've found this optimal for my purposes.
